RESCUE HOMES URGENTLY REQUIRED

We are still seeking a home for the girl we currently have in Rescue. Please, please give her some serious thought.

We have a further two needing permanent loving homes, (not from the same home).

We have a six year old neutered boy good with children, other dogs and livestock and a 5 year old spayed girl who gets on well with livestock, other dogs and even strange dogs!

It would be good to have some homes on our waiting list as we have had a busy 12 months and a lot of our homes have been taken up by other deserving dogs. Please give this some serious thought and we would be very pleased to hear from you if you feel you could help in this way.

"Konnie the loveable lout!!! Living a little too happily with our gang of 11. Coming on in leaps and bounds, she's house-trained, walking well on the lead - cages and travels well. Has been to a weekend dog show - camping - was a very good girl and made lots of friends. She is very eager to please and her enthusiasm can be a little over the top but this is improving.

Ideally she will be best suited living with another dog and someone who is at home or possibly only works part time"

DELAYS - APOLOGIES

Rescue has been going through lots of changes and all of us have been tied up with the most important thing......the dogs needing our care and attention. This has involved a lot of time, driving about, home checks and collecting and delivering dogs. This we feel must be given precedent over everything else and feel that most people will understand that this MUST be our priority.

Nevertheless, there have been some delays with the August photo competition when we felt we could get the prizes, winners and photos back by the end of the month. Bearing in mind it is only the 4th September - we do apologise for this delay, albeit a short one. This has been the first time that Anne has dealt with this, and I must admit we have kept her pretty busy one way and another over the past few weeks! Not really the best way to treat our new person on board Rescue, but it has been unavoidable.

Apologies to those of you who have been affected, but in the circumstances, hope that you understand and can bear with us.

Any further problems PLEASE CONTACT ME......my email, jeannie.stone@virgin.net I can immediately reply - I don't have time to read all the forums around, so please let me know the problems personally and they can be dealt with, without a delay.

LMC CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - SUNDAY 5TH JUNE

PEARL ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Thanks so much to everyone who attended our Show over the weekend at Hale Magna Village Hall, Little Hale in Lincolnshire. I think there were more Munsterlanders gathered together than I have ever seen other than at a breed or Championship Show. How lovely to see them all. All the Munsters who attended received a medal to commemorate the day, but if you were there and I missed you please let me know.

Both days had a tombola and raffle and we had excellent help with the refreshments.

Our oldest visiting Munsterlander was Daisy Dog who travelled up from Somerset, how lovely to see her and she will be 15 in a few months time.

One of our friends and supporters made some beautiful duvets to go with all the Best in Show categories and these proved very popular. Some of the owners made some pearly kings and queen outfits and must have spent many hours sewing the "pearls" .

Thank you again for your kind support and we hope you enjoyed the Show.

Just a little reminder that this weekend 5th/6th March will be our Pearl Anniversary Show - 30 YEARS OF MUNSTERLANDER RESCUE. It cov ers both days, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks everyone who attended the Show at Little Hale, near Sleaford yesterday. It was good to see Munsters there and also our newest Rescue boy, Bob with his new family. Thanks Jenny and Pete for the stirling work in the kitchen (much more organised than me !!!) and thanks also to judges, stewards and helpers.

It is now time for us to push on with all the preparations for the two day PEARL ANNIVERSARY SHOW in March next year - we are aiming on making this one a bumper event and want to see as many of you there as possible.

We are pleased to report that Ping has gone off to a new home and is settling in well. As she is our "honorary" Munster, Ping will be dropping in to bring us her news occasionally and this will appear in our FORUM Magazine. The new copy is out any day, so you will be receiving yours if you subscribe.

Don't forget our Rescue Dog Show this Sunday at Little Hale, Nr. Sleaford - show opens at 8.30 a.m. with judging commencing at 9.30. Pedigree and Novelty classes.

Many people know of us through our Rescue work - and we get all sorts of queries and requests. These come in many shapes and forms and not always are directly to do with the Munsterlander breed. In the past we have found ourselves trying to rehome cats and goats - just because we are "Rescue".

At present, we have with us at LM Rescue, a dear little dog "Ping" with us through no fault of her own - but she deserves our best efforts in trying to find her a home - and as she quite rightly mentioned to us "it is not my fault I am not a Munster"......

Ping is a 4 month old bitch puppy, all black and is a Labrador/whippet cross. She is house trained and is proving to be the sweetest of girls. She loves the company of other dogs and gets on well with cats. She is looking for a permanent, loving home. She is fully vaccinated.

RESCUE CALENDARS FOR 2011

Many of you will know that 2011 sees our Pearl Anniversary at Large Munsterlander Rescue. Rae has been involved for all of that time and has lost count of all the dogs that have been helped and rehomed.

Some special calendars are available this year to commemorate this 30th year anniversary. There are two versions, very different to those we have had before and we hope that you like them. One of our friends has kindly donated her time and efforts in producing some cartoons to go with the lovely photographs of the dogs in one of the calendars, and the other shows some really lovely photos of Munsters, both our supporters and our rescues.

Please support us by purchasing one of the calendars. Please state which one you would like. The cost is £6 to include postage. Please call Rae with your orders on 01302 711691.

As some of you will know, 2011 will be Rescue's PEARL ANNIVERSARY, yes, 30 years of Large Munsterlander Rescue.

To celebrate this, we are hoping to produce Calendars and Diaries for 2011 in a different format. For the 2011 edition of the Calendars (both Rescue dogs and Supporter's dogs) we will NOT be charging the usual page fee, and hope that you will all send your photos for possible inclusion as soon as possible. Closing date for these is MID-MAY and at that point, we shall choose all those for inclusion.

We don't mind if your Munsters appear with other breeds or even other animals, just let us have your photos as soon as possible so that we can get to work with them immediately.

Please help us make the PEARL ANNIVERSARY YEAR a very special one.

Very many thanks to all those who sent in photos. I am now closing this Winter part and so moving on to the next section, firstly "MUNSTERS IN SPRING" - and will be pleased to receive all photos for this category. Having given some though to this and because as usual the time is racing away, can you also look out any other seasonal photos of your Munsters. We are closing entries for the competition in mid-May to coincide with when we need calendar and diary photos. LOOKING BACK OVER THE YEAR

Because we have to be thinking about events and plans for 2010, we thought over the past few days about 2009 and how it has been for Rescue. There was never a shortage of dogs thats for sure, as soon as we entered into the first week of 2009, along came the first dog, quickly followed the following week by a second and it has been like that for much of the year. Many of those coming in needed to be neutered, and as I write Rae tells me that the last Veterinary bill for this has been paid, bringing us up to date.

I am so pleased to have received some photographs "Munsters in Winter" and look forward to including some "festive" ones under that title. I am looking at those to include some in the calendars and diaries for next year too.

We have some calendars left, so if you are quick, we could get those out to you before the start of the New Year.

I am already looking for copy for our next edition of the F.O.R.U.M. magazine - so any stories, amusing incidents, recipes, poems etc., would be gratefully received - just email those to me.

Thanks so much for the lovely Christmas cards sent to us, most often they bring news of our lovely Rescue dogs - it is always so good to hear how they are progressing and getting on with their lives with their new families.

I shall write again nearer to Christmas, unless some news becomes urgent or of interest to you all.

COMPETITION - MUNSTERS IN WINTER

Hooray...............the first entry received...............what a great photo too (thanks John) so come on folks - there has been quite a bit of nasty weather around, so I am sure you have some photos of your dogs. I can't remember having such wet weather in the past - we are usually well drained and not so much a problem - but really doesn't the mud give you the pip? I heard on the radio the other day that November was the wettest since 1951.............from my point of view, December won't be much better.
